Careers at Blanche Nevile
At Blanche Nevile, we aim for all students to belong, thrive and achieve their full potential. We recognise that every learner’s journey is unique and will look different for each individual. Our approach takes account of students’ strengths, interests and aspirations, alongside their identified needs as outlined in their EHCPs. We work closely with families and the wider community to ensure every young person is supported to flourish academically, socially and emotionally, and to make successful transitions into adulthood.
Through our specialised PSP (PSHE, Skills for Life and Preparing for Work) curriculum, as well as across the broader secondary curriculum, students work towards the three CEC Equalex Learning Outcomes: Introduce and Inspire, Investigate and Explore, and Apply and Demonstrate. As they progress through these outcomes, students expand their understanding of themselves, the world of work, and the skills they need to thrive in education and employment. All students are given opportunities to engage with employers and to apply skills in real life situations. This may be through internal work experience, or out in the local community. We value our relationships with deaf-led organisations and encourage new links with employers who seek to diversify their workforce and benefit from the skills deaf young people bring to workplaces.
Blanche Nevile is working towards the Skills Builder Bronze Award, empowering students to recognise their development in 8 essential skills valued by educators and employers.
